Might as well have a doughnut!

On the Glycemic Indexy... Dates are WORSE than doughnuts! I thought I was being really healthy by having them as a sweet snack... I might as well have been eating doughnuts!

Aren't doughnuts the triple whammy though? High in empty calories, full of sugar AND fried, so full of fat? I would have thought overall the dates would have been a better choice anyway, no matter...

I remember reading somewhere that the sugar in fruit isn't actually any better than refined sugar. But it is still better to eat fruit because of the fiber and vitamins it contains.Not much fiber and...

And here's something to consider next time you might like to add a bit of avocado to a salad or a sandwich, from memory there's more calories in 1/8 of an avocado than in a small McDonald's french...

Having just done the diet-go-round...are you sure?From the info book I am working with the average avocado (about a cupful of flesh) is about 240 cals, 25g of fat, small serve of McD's chips around...

Exactly what I mean about information overload. What is great in one type of diet is not so great in another. If only we didn't make it more complicated than just eating to be healthy!

You could mash just about any vegetable if you cook it a bit, but if you want to aim completely raw, as well as avocado try mashed banana? Yoghurt is good as well.

I always thought that avacado was full of good fat, the kind the body uese first and cant store... not sure if thats correct though

not sure about the avocados having fat that can't be stored or not but it is definitely the better fat, apparently it's the type that can help lower the bad cholesterol
